Political analyst Lukhona Mnguni says national government is neglecting local government.

Political analyst Lukhona Mnguni says there is more that needs to be done at local government level.

Speaking on the Political Desk, Mnguni says the people on the ground have ideas on how to turn things around in their communities, but feel they are being silenced.

When you hear of this 'new dawn' it focuses on the macro issues that have concerned us, issues of governance, accountability, transparency and so on at a national level.

Lukhona Mnguni, Political analyst

But you hear very little of turning around the local government, our municipalities, where our greatest level of corruption is, gate keeping and probably keeping the same type of regional captures if you have a state capture at regional level.

Lukhona Mnguni, Political analyst
