Hiding inside the 'dark web' - the horrors of child pornography
It's every parent's nightmare.
Discovering your child has been molested at the hands of a family member.
Just last week the Mail and Guardian last featured the story of Eva Wolmarans* whose 11-year-old daughter recently disclosed to her that her uncle had been sexually abusing her, and filming the abuse.
Speaking to Bongani Bingwa in response to the article, founder and director of Women and Men Against Child Abuse, Miranda Friedman, says child pornography has the effect of re-abusing the victim because it always exists online.
...children later become aware that they were photographed and they understand cyber crimes very, very well. Children are very technically savvy, they understand that they will probably never be able to erase it.Miranda Friedman, Founder and Director of Women and Men Against Child Abuse
She said the pandemic of child pornography erupted in the 2000's and has become uncontrollable since then.
...we really have to understand that the grooming of children for child pornography is enormous, it is global, it is growing, it is making it extremely difficult all over the world to control.Miranda Friedman, Founder and Director of Women and Men Against Child Abuse
