The Pan African Parliament has sworn-in 80 members to it's 6th parliament.
The South African delegation includes the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Julius Malema, African National Congress (ANC) members Thandi Modise, Thoko Didiza and Mandla Mandela.
Julius Malema is taking over from his deputy Floyd Shivambu so he knows about the Pan Africa Parliament. It's very interesting to have this guys here because it has created a new interest.— Jean-Jacques Cornish, Correspondent
Cornish says he spoke to Malema and he indicated to him that they are taking this assignment very seriously.
He further says the African Union Commission chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat delivered good opening remarks at the parliament.
Pan African Parliament doesn't have the powers that it should have. It is supposed to have legislative power in 10 years and it still doesn't have them and that is because a lot of leaders say, you give these guys teeth next thing they will be using them against us.— Jean-Jacques Cornish, Correspondent
