"Manana recording undermines criminal justice system. ANC must act"
Co Director at Sonke Genger Justice, Bafana Khumalo, says the ANC must act against Mduduzi Manana after fresh assault claims emerged against him this week.
Manana's domestic worker, Christine Wiro, has accused him of pushing her down a flight of stairs and then threatening to deport her to Zimbabwe.
Wiro withdrew the charges, saying she fears for her life.
Soon after the matter became public, Manana issued a statement saying her family was trying to extort money from him.
A recording then emerged of Manana offering Wiro R100 000 as "compensation"
Comments by the Minister of Women, Bathabile Dlamini is disappointing. He's not an honourable member. We need a more stringent response by the ruling party.Bafana Khumalo, Sonke Gender Justice
Dlamini is reported to have said that the judicial system must be given the time and space to deal with the matter.
