The African National Congress Youth League in the North West has called for the desolation of the ANC's provincial executive committee.
On Wednesday, beleaguered Premier Supra Mahumapelo said he will not resign until the ANC's PEC tells him to do so. He was pressured step down after he was fingered in a number of corruption allegations which led to widespread protests in the province.
The ANCYL's provincial secretary says Mahumapelo must step aside and allow the law to take its course.
The last thing we are saying is that Mahumapelo is no longer the premier of the North West because he had committed to the people of the North West by yesterday 12 pm he will no longer be the premier, we treat him as such. He is a former premier now he must do the honorable thing and allow an exercise which shall see him being a former chairperson of the ANC.— Sipho Dial, ANC Youth League North West Provincial Secretary
He says the youth league will request that the National Executive Committee (NEC) dissolve the PEC.
That PEC is very broken. It is highly compromised. Luthuli House need to dissolve that thing and establish a task team that is going to rebuild the ANC, pick up the little that is left in the province and build a solid organisation that is going to make sure it champions the interests of the people of the North West.— Sipho Dial, ANC Youth League North West Provincial Secretary
