EFF turning to courts to get rid of Supra

With former president Jacob Zuma out of the way, the EFF has set its sights on a number of other projects and a rather distinct change in strategy ahead of 2019's National Elections.

Land expropriation without compensation is at the heart of the party's policies with the leader Julius Maleme saying even residential property could now be confiscated.

Added to this he has also been talking about 24-hour clinics being created should the EFF come into power.

Political analyst, Ralph Mathekga and EFF North West provincial secretary Betty Diale spoke to Ray White on The Midday Report about the different battles the party is fighting.

Mathekga said the evolution of the issues that they are facing and dealing with is satisfactory.

Looking at that, at least they are not a party that is based only on a single issue, they are thinking about other issues. Hearing them talking about alcohol, I have to say this is one issue that I am happy about.

Ralph Mathekga, political analyst

He added the EFF's focus on different issues, shows that the party is evolving and demonstrating growth.

Diale focused on what the party plans to do in the North West province, threatening to turn to the courts if the premier Supra Mahumapelo does not step down.

Mahumapelo has placed himself on leave and has appointed Wendy Nelson as the acting premier.

We have no other option but to turn to the courts in this regard. We feel that the SOP called leave of absence by the premier in the first place is illegal. The premier can only appoint an acting premier when he is really absent.

Betty Diale, EFF North West provincial secretary

Not this situation where he is present and absent at the same time, when he will roaming around the province, having meetings with community members and whoever he will be inviting.
