[LISTEN] 'Mahumapelo's removal is up to the ANC, not health dept' - Motsoaledi

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has accepted a list of demands from members of trade union Nehawu in the North West.

Members gathered on Wednesday, at the Montshioa Stadium before marching to the provincial legislature, to deliver the memorandum over the crises in the province's departments of Health and Social Development resulting in the disruption of services, especially at health care facilities.

The union has threatened a two-day shutdown.

READ: Nehawu gives North West leadership ultimatum over demands Responding to a 24-hour deadline set by the workers, Motsoaledi says he cannot promise anything but a response.

I am not going to lie and tell everybody that you can do everything in 24 hours even though we agree with most of the demands.

Aaron Motsoaledi, Health Minister

Referring to the union's grievances, he says Premier Supra Mahumapelo's removal is up to the African National Congress (ANC).

We can tell them in response that yes we agree with most of these things. There is not a government department that has been left behind, of course including the fact that the premier must be fired and you know that one cannot be responded to by us including Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma herself. That is a party thing not a government thing,.
