Urgent call from SANBS for blood donors

The South African National Blood Services is running out of blood.

SANBS Regional Marketing Manager Ivor Hobbs says on a daily basis they need around 3 200 units of blood.

Hobbs says Group O type, the universal blood group, is the most common blood type and most in demand.

We are sitting at about two days of Group O positive stock specifically.

Hobbs further says most people do not donate blood because of fear of the needle and other myths.
