Manana lays charge against former domestic worker

African National Congress MP Mduduzi Manana wants his former domestic worker Christine Wiro charged for perjury at the Douglasdale Police Station.

This comes after Wiro accused Manana of hurling abuse at her and pushing her down the stairs at his home in Fourways.

Times Live then later released audio of Manana purportedly offering to pay Wiro R100 000 to drop the assault case against him.

Speaking to Thembekile Mrototo on The Midday Report, EWN Reporter Mia Lindeque said a week ago Manana threatened to take the Wiro family to court and lay a charge against his domestic worker.

EWN reporter Mia Lindeque says there has now been a development as Manana has opened a case of perjury.

Which means that in the statement that we have seen, he says that he wants to give his case, he wants his day in court. And he believes that Christine Wiro is in fact lying saying that he assaulted her and that is a lie.

Mia Lindeque, EWN Reporter

Allegedly the incident with Christine Wiro was sparked when she let a visitor into Manana's home without his permission.

Lindeque reports that this visitor has now given a statement to the police.

In this letter given by Manana's legal team, they say that in fact she is on his side and she will corroborate his case.
