Consumers are inundated daily with text messages on their phones with offers to buy insurance and other services.

He adds that they are using AI and robotics to do it on a mass scale, fuels the fire.
He says one needs to take a step back and ask why are companies willfully ignoring the legislation, in particular, the Privacy Protection Act in this case.

He says one should not have to wait for the Protection of Private Information Act (POPI) to come into practice.
He says unsolicited calls are more serious than just the nuisance factor but can lead to information being used for identity theft.
