[LISTEN] What to expect from the ANC Land Summit

The African National Congress (ANC) will hold its first land summit this weekend to discuss how it will implement land reform.

The party resolved at it's conference in December that the Constitution must be amended to allow for land to be expropriated without compensation.

Karima Brown spoke to Ronald Lamola, Member of the Economic Transformation Committee of the ANC NEC for details on the summit.

It is meant to opertionalise the resolution.

Ronald Lamola, Member of the Economic Transformation Committee of the ANC NEC

You need to speak to how do you amend the expropriation bill to enable it to assist us to achieve our objective of expropriation without compensation as required by the constitution.

Ronald Lamola, Member of the Economic Transformation Committee of the ANC NEC

We will evaluate our progress in the last 24 years, what were the pitfalls, what were the reasons, is it economical, is it the constitution?

Ronald Lamola, Member of the Economic Transformation Committee of the ANC NEC

The position is clear but as to how we are going to do that, that is what the workshop is going to do.
