'Smaller political parties need to be heard'

Eusebius McKaiser engages callers on the open line on issues affecting them and the public in general.

Mmusi Maimane please wake up and tell us what the DA stands for. We know what he doesn't stand for but we don't know what he stands for.

Ella, Caller

Willie called in and spoke about Mmusi as well calling him an 'accidental politician'

That glint that he has in his eye, I sometimes find it irritating to be honest....as if he is just about to burst into some Christian rock classic...and sweep us off our feet. That is not what politics is all about. We need to get on with realpolitik.

Eusebius McKaiser, 702/CapeTalk anchor

But Eusebius says Maimane is a 'genuinely nice guy' and looks forward to having him on the show.

Callers suggested that the media give smaller parties airtime in the build-up to the 2019 elections so that voters have the opportunity to choose beyond the top three parties.

I want to raise the issue of Edward Zuma. I heard him today saying he was not charged because of hate speech. I think the ANC should take action against these people because they get these platforms to insult people and at the end of the day they just pay the amount. I think R60 000 is nothing to him.

Lesedi, Caller

I am very sad because of this corruption. I see Bathabile Dlamini is in trouble again with Pearl Bhengu. It's too much, we can't. So many millions, how many schools can we build with that money? A lot of them.

Lee, Caller
