SPCA lays charges of animal cruelty against pitbill killers

A video of a pitbill being stabbed and kicked to death has been making the rounds on social media and has been met with outrage from animal lovers.

The dog was kicked and stabbed by a few individuals after it had allegedly bitten a child (after being provoked while on his owner's property).

Cape Of Good Hope SPCA spokesperson, Belinda Abraham, says they have laid charges of animal cruelty against one of the perpetrators who was identified from the video.

We have appealed to the National Prosecuting Authority for the case to be heard in a regional court where harsher penalties can be imposed.

Belinda Abraham, Cape Of Good Hope SPCA spokesperson

Abraham has condemned incidents of this nature where communities take the law into their own hands and kill animals.

Whether this incident has happened or not, individuals cannot just take the law into their own hands...

Belinda Abraham, Cape Of Good Hope SPCA spokesperson

The SPCA has put out an appeal to the public and those who feel strongly about this incident, to approach the police and quote case number 529/52018 Khayelitsha and make an affidavit to support the case.
