[LISTEN] 'Criminal case against the Guptas still stands'

The National Prosecuting Authority says they have accepted the ruling made in the Bloemfontein high court in regard to the Gupta assets.

The court set aside the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU)’s R250 million restraining order obtained against several Gupta companies and their directors as well as Free State government employees.

We've accepted that it is a major set back in terms of money laundering and organised crime.

That was not an acquittal in terms of the criminal case, the criminal case still stands and our prosecutors are confident that they have reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.

Mfaku says they have a preservation order that is standing and their asset Forfeiture lawyers filed papers today in respect of that restraint.

That restraint is for property around R140 million.
