'Captain, my captain you have to shoulder great responsibility'

CapeTalk host Abongile Nzelenzele has some sage words of advice for newly appointed Bok captain Siya Kolisi.

Siya Kolisi has so much on his shoulders says Abongile.

It's not just about him. it's about each and every one of us.

Abongile Nzelenzele, CapeTalk Early breakfast host

Abs says he wants to offer some humble words of wisdom to his captain.

Captain, my captain. You...have to shoulder a huge responsibility so that others may continue to prosper. Albeit that the individual will face scrutiny and ridicule.

Abongile Nzelenzele, CapeTalk Early breakfast host

Kolisi will have to face tough decisions says Abs, and will require tears, sacrifice and a big heart.

Abs says the burdens he will face will not be on the field which is where he should be judged.

They will be outside...We are going to call you names, label you as a quota player, a product of fear, an experiment that has to be done regardless of the result.

Abongile Nzelenzele, CapeTalk Early breakfast host

I say we, because this will not be assumptions from a certain race or gender. It will come from all sides.

Abongile Nzelenzele, CapeTalk Early breakfast host

So captain, I am not asking you here to succeed, even though I do hope that you will. What I am asking you, is that you continue doing what you have been doing...Continue to display the qualities of the South African people no matter their backgrounds.

Abongile Nzelenzele, CapeTalk Early breakfast host
