Young singer to lead Boks in national anthem

We have seen a few disasters, like Ras Dumisani and Ard Mathews who were slammed for their renditions of the anthem.

However, when the English squad lines up for their first rugby Test this season against the Springboks at Ellis Park next Saturday, a Durban singer will lead them singing Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika and God Save the Queen.

Empangeni-born and Pietermaritzburg-educated actress and singer Haylea Heyns spoke to Ray White on The Midday Report and said this will be the first time she sings in front of such a big audience.

It's about 62 000 people, so there is a little bit of pressure but I am up for the challenge.

She adds that her break came last year when she was spotted singing for the Sharks Rugby team.
