New drug rehab center opened in Eldorado Park

On Tuesday, the executive mayor of Joburg, Herman Mashaba as well as MMC for Health, Dr Mpho Phalatse, opened a new drug rehab centre in Eldorado Park.

The new development forms part of the City's campaign to tackle the surge of drug abuse in Johannesburg.

The Community Based Substance Abuse Treatment Centre was officially opened in Eldorado Park Ext 9.

Joanne Joseph spoke to Phalatse on the Afternoon Drive to find out more.

In the current financial year, we were given a budget to establish five centres.

Eldorado Park has been a hotspot for many years. We decided for the first time we are actually going to put our money where are mouths are and we are going to bring them a facility that they can actually use.
