Government workers to embark on strike on Monday over wage demands

The Public Servants Association (PSA) says it will be going on a nationwide strike next Monday after wage talks deadlocked with government.

PSA Deputy General Manager Tahir Maepa says they do not agree with everything included in the current deal.

The government decided to try and marginalised the PSA and excluded us in the latter part of these negotiations because we were raising pertinent questions and we were challenged some of their statements.

This agreement on the table is the identical agreement that we rejected on the 26 of January. Nothing has changed from then till now.

Maepa says as PSA they are demanding a 10% salary increase.

Remember the inflations, projected CPOI is not really the inflation. The inflation on food, the inflation on transport if you take that into consideration 10% is too little for the public servants.
