I never said Momoniat is un-African - Shivambu

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president Floyd Shivambu has defended his criticisms of Treasury’s deputy director-general Ismail Momoniat and denied calling him 'un-African'.

Shivambu expressed his dissatisfaction with the Momoniat and his managemnt of treasury, in Parliament on Tuesday.

He has accused the deputy DG of undermining African leadership and assigning all the powers of National Treasury to himself.

I never said in the committee that Momoniat is un-African, I said he is micromanaging national treasury and is therefore undermining the African leadership that is in national treasury and as a line manager who has got specific functions, he is not supposed to be the one who is responsible for virtually everything.

We know at the most senior level, National Treasury has been complaining.

We said that whoever leads national treasury, even if he is a black African, we are going to tell him that ,don't undermine African leadership that has been given certain responsibilities. You can't be everything in national treasury.
