‘I have an unparalleled passion for food’ - Chef Deena Naidoo

In the food feature, South Africa’s first MasterChef winner Chef Deena Naidoo chats about the vital role his Indian roots played in his dishes, and his journey in the restaurant business.

I won MasterChef South Africa in 2012, that makes it the best of 6 years but it feels as if it was yesterday.

Chef Naidoo says that after he won MasterChef South Africa, he got into a strategic alliance with Tsogo Sun. He adds that Tsogo Sun assisted and mentored him to become a restaurateur.

Having a passion for food and being a good cook doesn’t make you a good restaurateur says Chef Naidoo.

I always gravitate towards my roots. My internal upbringing is something that I never deny.
