'Libyan migrants should be taken to the closest country'

EWN Africa Correspondent Jean-Jacques Cornish, says according to the International law, rescued migrants are supposed to be taken to the closest country. This comes after a ship carrying 629 migrants was rescued in Libyan waters and Italy closed its ports saying Malta should accommodate them.

There has been a conversation between the Italian new prime minister Matteo Salvini and the Prime mister of Malta, Joseph Muscat. The Maltese are also saying no, stating that they have taken a fair share of the migrants.
