Alex FM board ready to meet striking workers

Community radio station Alex FM has been shut down by disgruntled workers.

Staff are demanding the resignation of the entire board of the station.

Chairperson Pam Malela says the workers have no mandate to make such demands.

The staff has no mandate to call for the removal of the board. The board was mandated and nominated by the community at an AGM and that's the only process we would allow to proceed, that the community nominates a new board.

Pam Malela, Chairperson of Alex FM Board

This can be done at an AGM if it can go uninterrupted.

Malela says they are ready to seat with the staff of Alex FM and address their concerns.

We will show them every single entry in our bank statements except for the salaries because they are confidential.
