President Ramaphosa submits affidavit in Tom Moyane case

Suspended South African Revenue Service (Sars) Commissioner Tom Moyane has been served details of the charges that will be presented against him at his disciplinary hearing.

The State attorney delivered the papers to Moyane on Thursday.

The main deponent in the case is Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, who has explained the four counts of misconduct Moyane is facing.

Eyewitness News reporter Qaanitha Hunter has more details on the charges.

In the submission, Pravin Gorhdan details meticulously how Tom Moyane dealt with the issue relating to his deputy Jonas Makwakwa, Makwakawa was flagged by a Financial Intelligence Centre report for money laundering. The main charge against Moyane in that matter is that he knew about it and only reacted when the Sunday Times reported about the matter....

The main argument that Gordhan is making is that it has been a derelection of duty. That is in terms of charge one.
