The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has told Athletics South Africa, its new policy to regulate the testosterone levels in female athletes, competing in the 400m, 800m and 1,500m events is not targeting any athletes in particular.
The IAAF says it's all about ensuring fair and meaningful competition for the athletes concerned.
EWN reporter, Philasande Sixaba says the IAAF still think that its ruling is not discriminatory in any fashion.
They still think that their ruling is trying to level out the playing field of all the athletes and to lower the testosterone of female athletes is going to give everyone a fair advantage in terms of the races between 400 to 1500 metres.— Philasande Sixaba, EWN reporter
Those are specifically one of the events that Caster Semenya races on. So they are not backing down at all in their new law.— Philasande Sixaba, EWN reporter
