Director, Cfo And co-founder at TaxTim Marc Sevitz chats about Sars latest Service Charter, and who qualifies to file a tax return.
Sevitz says that the closing date for tax returns will be on the 31st October 2018 – which is 3 weeks earlier than normal.
The co-founder of TaxTim adds that last year, there seemed to be some technical issues but everything seems to be running smootly in 2018.
Sars has just released their latest Service Charter which governs the relationship between tax payers and Sars says Sevitz.
On it (Sars Service Charter), it says that if everything goes smoothly, you should receive a refund within 7 days.— Marc Sevitz, Director, Cfo And co-founder at TaxTim
Sars has said that everyone should file a tax return unless they earn less than R350 000 from one employer for a full 12 months working with no deductions.
Sevitz adds that Sars has informed the public that if you earn under the tax threshold which is just sort of R80 000 a year, you don’t have to file your tax return.
Every year, we always say that people should file their return because you don’t know what’s going to happen in the future.— Marc Sevitz, Director, Cfo And co-founder at TaxTim
Sevitz says that even if you fall into that category, it’s worthwhile being up to date and ensuring that everything is in order.
