Tax season is here!

The South African Revenue Services (Sars) aims to collect R1.345 trillion this tax year.

It also wants to regain the trust and confidence of taxpayers.

The once exemplary revenue service has been marred by shortfalls and claims of poor governance and misconduct, resulting in an ongoing commission of inquiry.

President Cyril Ramaphosa suspended former commissioner Tom Moyane, who is facing an internal disciplinary process in addition to the Sars inquiry.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed Mark Kingon, the acting commission at Sars.
