The neighbour apparently transported the cats in the boot of his car and dumped the animals at an open field in Atlantis.

The cats, Oberon and Phoebe, were reported missing by their owner Paula Kingham and a search and rescue operation was launched.

Meanwhile a dog was also stabbed in an horrific attack in Khayelitsha. The alleged perpetrator will appear in court on Friday 6 July.

These are very serious instances where much-loved companions have paid the price for neighbourly disputes.
