'Infighting can lead to DA losing its position as the main opposition party'

Political analyst Sanusha Naidu says the 'downfall' of the Democratic Alliance (DA) should not be celebrated.

Speaking on the Political Desk with Bongani Bingwa, Naidu says a weakened Democratic Alliance is not good for the democracy landscape of South Africa.

The DA should now be thinking of where to go in terms of consolidating its position as an opposition position.

Sanusha Naidu, Political Analyst

Another thing to bare in mind is that as you grapple with your crisis you also lose the position of being an opposition party.

Sanusha Naidu, Political Analyst

Naidu says it always goes bad for political parties that relay different views to the public on a single issue.

She further states that the DA must move on from their internal battles so they can focus on the elections.

Even with the De Lille issue, having a political party talk in different views about the situation, it doesn't really go well for you. To a large extent, people become less confident about the party.
