It's a long journey and a very complicated one and it has to be done with a lot of care obviously looking after our customer's interests.

David Wingfield, Group marketing head of Absa

The point of this journey is that as part of our separation, Barclays did pay an amount of money for us to be able to do this journey and that's how we are funding it.

Wingfield also explained the logo changes and the choice of colours in it.

What we decided to do was we just toned down the colour red. Some of the feedback we got was that our colours were a bit too passionate so we just brought it back.

David Wingfield, Group marketing head of Absa

We actually now call our anchor red, passion red. It is an Absa colour... but we also added different spectrum of red.
