Fired ANC member linked to other heists - Cele
The African National Congress (ANC) announced on Wednesday that it has fired an employee who was arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit heist.
This comes a year after Errol Velile Present was linked to a farm scandal in Limpopo with the former Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Gugile Nkwinti.
Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, says the arrest of Present is just an arrest of a criminal like all other criminals that are involved in cash-in-transit heists and all other criminal activities.
We don't profile them on political affiliations, who they know and who they don't know.Bheki Cele, Minister of Police
If he falls within this group and is found with the group that is committing the crime, let him be arrested and we congratulate the police on that.Bheki Cele, Minister of Police
He adds that the Nkwinti allegations have not been put forward to the police to be investigated.
But yes, there is an issue to be investigated and definitely, it will be investigated. What we have established is that Velile is linked to another cash-in-transit heist before this and other cases.Bheki Cele, Minister of Police
