State dinners are the official way that a president of a particular country gets to greet representatives, royalty and political leaders from other countries.

A state dinner honouring a foreign government head or reigning monarch has been known to be the grandest and most glamorous affair.

With the Brics summit underway in Sandton, President Ramaphosa and members of his administration had to greet and welcome the four heads of state when they arrive.
