DA: There is nothing untoward with Zille's inclusion on the selection panel

The Democratic Alliance remains steadfast that there is nothing untoward with the inclusion of Helen Zille on the selection panel to choose who will represent the party in Parliament.

Some DA members are not happy with Zille's inclusion on the panel, saying that it might interfere with Mmusi Maimane’s plans to transform the party's representation in parliament.

DA National spokesperson, Solly Malatsi says Zille brings with her ample experience, having served two years as Premier - as well as Mayor of Cape Town - and has all the insights needed to choose competent individuals to represent the party.

The panel is made up of several individuals including independent professional experts...and to be frank, Helen Zille has been Premier for two terms now so her experience of governance, combined with the expertise of other party leaders on the panel, means that the team will produce fair outcomes that will make sure that we have competent public representatives.

Helen Zille, like all the members on the panel was nominated and her nomination was approved by the Provincial Council of the Western Cape where the panel will be adjudicating, and it was further adopted by the Federal Council of DA, so there is nothing untoward about her inclusion in there.
