Ever wondered what determines luck?
Why are some people lucky while others experience bad luck?
Dr Chris Smith, fondly known as the 'Naked Scientist' says some people don't believe in luck.
In fact, Rick Wakeman says in his book, 'I don't believe in luck' and thinks it is when opportunity meets preparation.— Dr Chris Smith, The Naked Scientist
I am a great subscriber to that, I think that you make your own luck and to a certain extent, there is chance. But I think you make your own luck by being prepared and simulating all the information and deploying that information the right way at the right time when the opportunity arises.— Dr Chris Smith, The Naked Scientist
He says, in other words, it is knowledge largely, but it is putting yourself in the right place at the right time.
And that is something that you can anticipate and then there is the coin toss that occasionally happens. But I think on a whole you can anticipate a lot of things and you shift the balance of probability in your favour if you can.— Dr Chris Smith, The Naked Scientist
