Is this the most erotic novel ever published in South Africa?

Could this new book by a well-known South African author be the next 50 Shades of Grey?

Ecstasy of Brush Strokes is being tipped as the most erotic novel ever to be published in South Africa.

It marks publisher Melinda Ferguson's first foray into erotic literature under her MFBooks Joburg imprint and it’s set to get pulses racing.

So just who is the mystery South African writer behind Ecstasy of Brush Strokes and why is she so adamant that her true identity not be revealed?

Ferguson joined fellow author and Cape Talk host Sara-Jayne King to explain.

She's actually concerned about reputational damage. She's a well-known author! I tried to convince her to write under her real name, but she didn't want to, so I came up with the name Rachel Haze.

But despite the subject matter, Ferguson balks at comparisons to British author E.L James' hit series Fifty Shades of Grey, insisting that this is a well-written, sexy and intelligent book read.

To help promote the book Ferguson has enlisted the help of several high profile SA personalities to serve as 'influencers'.

Women, she says, who are not afraid to embrace their sexuality and sensuality.

They include comedian Nina Hastie - she's the perfect reader, very naughty and irreverent and also Instagram personality Masego Kunupi. Strong confident women.
