Facebook will launch internet satellite to connect remote corners of the Earth

In remote corners of the globe, people often connect to the internet via massive geostationary satellites. These school bus-size instruments are especially far away, producing significantly slower connections.

A host of companies believe the better way to connect the estimated half of Earth’s population that’s still offline is to launch “constellations” of smaller satellites into low Earth orbit, around 100 to 1,250 miles above our planet.

According to emails obtained from the Federal Communications Commission in response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by WIRED, and confirmation from the company itself, Facebook is officially one of them.

A smart bandage, capable of monitoring a wound and delivering periodic drug treatments, has been developed by a team of researchers at Tufts University. Currently just a prototype, the technology detailed in a recent paper in the journal Small could someday help transform medical treatment, enabling a doctor to more closely monitor her patient’s condition, while more actively treating it.

The new Land Rover Explore mobile phone is tough and capable – like the Discovery SUV that inspired it.

Powerful enough for two full days of typical use and durable enough to keep you connected when the going gets tough - the Explore smartphone is at home in the office and on an outdoor adventure, navigating as you go further and stay out for longer.

A powerful 4,000mAh battery gives a full days hiking, biking or skiing with screen on constantly and GPS navigation mapping activated on the five-inch HD display.

This phone is meant for those people who are executive who drive Landrovers.

It is rugged and it can withstand those extreme temperatures and it adds direct connection to satellite so you don't need 3G connectivity - a proper campus and a proper GPS which is done via magnet.
