The vehicle was unroadworthy and it was on suspension. Our officers stopped the taxi previously and took it off the road yet he took a chance to put it back on the road again taking these children to different schools.

According to Africa, the vehicle was supposed to have been impounded. He says they are in the process of finding out who suspended it without impounding the vehicle and bring the officer responsible to book.

Spokesperson for MEC Donald Grant, Siphesihle Dube says parents need to take responsibility when privately contracting these scholar transport that are in unsatisfactory conditions.

We are appealing to the parents to be very careful as to who they contract privately to transport their kids to various areas. We understand that there is that element of desperation to get their children to school but there is that element of responsibility they need to uphold to make sure kids are transported safely.
