The deadlock over Eskom wage negotiations has been ongoing for almost a month without any breakthrough.

The power utility is warning of possible load shedding this week as the three unions embark on a strike. Eskom has now reported acts of intimidation at several power stations.

The new management at Eskom hasn't learned how to negotiate properly yet. You can't send people to negotiate with the unions that have a proper mandate. That's what exacerbated the situation.

I predict that electricity prices will double by 2022. And in reality take away all the corruption and spending inefficiency, the average household should pay no more than R400-R500 for electricity but everybody is paying more than R1000.
