#TotalShutdown: Protesters injured in scuffle with police at Union Buildings

Organisers of the Total Shutdown refused to hand over a memorandum of demands to Minister Naledi Pandor after President Cyril Ramaphosa failed to show up outside the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Wednesday.

Thousands of women and gender neutral groups showed their support for the campaign against gender based violence in demonstrations across the country.

A scuffle broke out between police and protesters when the crowd tried to make their way passed the union gates.

Protestors were trying to enter the gates and then police tried to stop them. Some women were shoved on the side of the fence, I saw some being sprayed with pepper spray.

The protesters say they had agreed with the Presidency that President Cyril Ramaphosa would come and receive that memorandum.
