Cele cites 63% drop in cash-in-transit heists due to recent interventions
Police Minister Bheki Cele says there has been more than a 60% reduction in the number of cash-in-transit heists since the announcement of the so-called stabilisation campaign used to crack down on aggravated robberies, two months ago.
The Saps has made major strides by clamping down on networks with the arrest of 42 suspects, including a man believed to be a kingpin.
Cele held a briefing in Tembisa on Thursday.
Eyewitness News reporter Barry Bateman has more on the story.
He is putting this down to making significant inroads in the arrest of the most wanted cash heist suspects. We got the arrest last week of Wellington Cenenda and he listed four of Cenenda's leftenants who have also been put behind bars.Barry Bateman, EWN reporter
