[LISTEN] It’s not sex if is she says no at any point! - Bongani Bingwa

Breakfast show host Bongani Bingwa questions whether there has been an honest conversation about rape?

This comes after 23-year-old Khensani Maseko died committing suicide after she was raped in May this year by her then boyfriend.

Bingwa says the damage of rape is permanent and never goes away.

Rape is not caused by tight clothes, flirting, drunk girls, by being “led-on”. Rape is caused by rapists.

Bongani Bingwa, Breakfast show host

It occurs to me that there are some rapists who truly, despite all the available information do not or choose to not know what rape is. They think that they are entitled to a woman’s body.

Bongani Bingwa, Breakfast show host

They think that rape is something committed by creepy men who wait at darkened train stations ready to pounce on strangers. It can’t be rape if it’s their woman. So they too want to march. They too retweet things and call in on radio talk shows.

Expressing solidarity and wear pink ribbons or dress in black or support whatever symbolism the latest campaign calls for without ever seeing themselves as the enemy.

Bongani Bingwa, Breakfast show host

It’s not sex if: she’s underage - even if she said yes; if she asks you to stop during the act and you continue; is she says no at any point!
