Rape culture is in the spotlight again with South Africans demanding action be taken against perpetrators.

The death of 23-year-old Khensani Maseko shook the nation after she died by suicide after being raped by her then-boyfriend in May at Rhodes University.

We got a report about an alleged rape on Monday which the university was investigating.

Luzuko Jacobs, Rhodes University spokesperson

The incident happened in May and was brought to our attention on Monday. We have met with the family and our counsellor working with the family and Khensani.

Jacobs says they will be asking the police to carry out an inquest into the incident and will be suspending the suspect from the university.
