'Less motorists are paying e-tolls since ANC Gauteng announcement'

The company contracted by Sanral to design and operate the e-toll system, the Gauteng Open Road Tolling Project, says it has seen a significant impact on the number of motorists paying toll fees since an announcement by the African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng that it plans to do away with e-tolls.

Last month, the newly elected PEC said it would appoint a task team to look into the scrapping of the controversial e-tolling system.

It takes a while to make sure our campaigning works and communication works to try and bring up the compliance rates again.

What we do know is that the department of Transport as well as Sanral have gone public to say it is business as usual.
