ANC welcomes apppointment of Dr Silas Ramaite as acting NDPP

Ramaite replaces Shaun Abrahams after Monday’s Constitutional Court found former prosecutions boss Mxolisi Nxasana's settlement and Abrahams' subsequent appointment were constitutionally invalid.

Responding to questions surrounding the outcome of the National Working Committee meeting this week, Deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte said the party is most concerned with the stability of the National Prosecuting Authority.

We think he is a good man, we think he will do a good job in the time that he is there. Our real concern right now is for the stability of that institution,so we supported the outcome of the court case, because we thought it gives the country and the president a very clear defined way forward.
