The ANC, EFF and other parties were not able to bring their fourth motion of no confidence against NMB Mayor Athol Trollip.

The DA's Athol Trollip still remains mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality after a no-confidence vote was postponed.

The ANC, EFF and other parties were not able to bring their fourth motion of no confidence against Trollip and some of his colleagues on Thursday.

Several councillors walked out of the chambers amid disagreements on a number issues.

Speaker Jonathan Lawack was forced to adjourn the council meeting because the gathering did not meet its quorum.

The Patriotic Alliance (PA) also revealed that it would no longer support the motion.

Lawack is expected to announce the new date for the no-confidence bid in due course.

The DA still enjoys support from the likes of Cope and the ACDP, and now the PA, reports EWN.

Meanwhile, DA Eastern Cape Leader Nqaba Banga has question the interest of several other opposition parties.

The ANC, the EFF and other smaller parties ran away. They ran like cowards today as we were ready to dismiss and win the motion against Trollip.

Nqaba Banga, DA Eastern Cape Leader

We have very childish individuals here who want to derail what we do in the city.

Nqaba Banga, DA Eastern Cape Leader

We know we will defeat the motion.
