The Catzavelos family has confirmed the statement which is circulating on social media that Adam Catzavelos has apologised for his racist video.
Callers on the Eusebius McKaiser Show weighed in on the different dynamics of dealing with people they know who are racist.
Eusebius says it is quite alright to cut off family members who are racist as it is important to centre the victim of the abuse in that decision.
Katherine, 51-year-old white female and has lived through the terrible apartheid years had this to say:
I do not condone any person making such outrageous comments like this Adam fellow. In my day to day dealings with people, if somebody shows that racist side, I shut them down.— Katherine, caller
I don't support their business and I do tell people why I am not supporting them.— Katherine, caller
And I think more and more white people have to do this.— Katherine, caller
She adds that when she does take people on, she does it calmly and chooses the right words.
Peter says people are not born with hatred and it is crazy that someone like Adam Catzavelos can come with a media spin apology.
And pretend that it is a repentance and compensation. He needs to in my honest opinion give himself 150 hours of community service in a township and understand what people go through and what life is about.— Peter, caller
