Africa State of Mind: 'Africa has such an appetite for tech' - David Lubinski

On this special broadcast of Africa State Of Mind, Senior Programme Officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, David Lubinski, chats about the organisation's work on the continent.

Lubinski says that his career has primarily been in the commercial sector.

I spent time in the computing industry for a couple of years, then spent 10 years at Microsoft which was a great experience adds Lubinski.

I got to understand how the commercial sector works globally, and how technology can be made broadly.

Lubinski says that he began to realise that the uptake of technology wasn't equally distributed.

Africa has such an appetite for technology.

Lubinski says that he wanted to change points of view so he left Microsoft, and began working at the World Health Organisation.

We're able to use technology to improve the health of citizens adds Lubinski.

We were focused on Africa, and how information systems were used to manage drug supplies, vaccine deliveries, and basic health services says Lubinski.

He adds that ultimately, it became clear that working with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation would allow me to have a greater impact.
