DA insists removal of Athol Trollip is unlawful
The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it will be approaching the Eastern Cape High Court to challenge the ousting of Athol Trollip as executive mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
Trolip was voted out by council in a motion of no confidence on Monday.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane held a press briefing on Tuesday, describing Monday's motion as 'chaotic'.
He says the United Democratic Movement (UDM), African National Congress (ANC) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have formed a coalition to undermine the will of the electorate and to 'make a mockery' of local government.
Eyewitness News reporter Kevin Brandt was at the presser.

Mr Maimane also stated that communication will continue and that whenever there are any problems, that will be addressed. He says that they feel very strongly that they have a case to present in court.Kevin Brandt, EWN reporter
