Vytjie Mentor testified she feared for her safety
Former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament Vytjie Mentor will wrap up her testimony at the #StateCaptureInquiry on Wednesday.
Tuesday's testimony saw the former MP breaking down while speaking about a faulty door at a hotel where the commission has booked her stay, adding she didn't want to be alarmist, but she feared for her safety.
Speaking to Bongani Bingwa, EWN reporter, Clement Manyathela says Mentor broke down about how she felt unsafe at the hotel.
She got sympathy from the deputy chief justice Raymond Zondo who said rightly so, given the testimony that you have given. She said they had changed rooms for her after she raised some concerns with the latch of the door.Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
Manyathela reports that Mentor is going to continue her testimony on Wednesday.
It is important to note that she spoke about how she pulled the now deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte about that meeting with the Gupta family where she was offered that ministerial post.Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
I see News 24 has managed to speak to Duarte and she says she has not spoken to Mentor about that specific meeting.Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
The only time that she interacted with her was when Mentor raised other concerns and definitely not that meeting she had with the Guptas.Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter
