The Zondo commission into State of Capture has heard from the acting chief executive at GCIS, Phumla Williams who not only accused her predecessor Mzwanele Manyi of trying to influence of her testimony but also detailed events that took place after Manyi took over as head of GCIS.
Williams is the fifth witness to testify.
Eyewitness News reporter Bonga Dlulane has more on the story.
Miss Williams says during her testimony, Mr Manyi sent her a text saying she must not implicate him, she was talking about the TNA Breakfast and who was in charge then. She says she believes he was trying to influence her in her testimony.— Bonga Dlulane,EWN Reporter
Just so it's clear. Phumla was relating the changes I brought into GCIS. In the same breath she mentions TNA/SABC breakfast which in my view created the impression that I was somehow part of that. So I sent her a text for her to clarify that this happened AFTER my era pic.twitter.com/j1TRvG8q1N— Mzwanele Manyi (@MzwaneleManyi) August 31, 2018
The judge made a pledge that they will investigate the matter and will look into summoning Manyi to come and answer for what he did.— Bonga Dlulane,EWN Reporter
