Speaking to Ray White on The Midday Report, Deputy National Commissioner of Crime Detection Lieutenant General Lebeoana Tsumane says crime detection entails three divisions that are very reactive in nature.

That is your detectives, forensics and also crime intelligence.

Lieutenant General Lebeoana Tsumane, Deputy National Commissioner of Crime Detection

He says Saps is starting a modus operandi analysis centre as part and parcel of the broader vision of Saps for the next five years.

The modus operandi centre is key because all the data that will be put in that centre will enable us to make sure that we understand what is happening and DNA will be stored in that particular centre.

Lieutenant General Lebeoana Tsumane, Deputy National Commissioner of Crime Detection

From time to time we will zoom in to that particular centre and deal with criminals in that regard.
